The Alford Valley Railway is a 2 ft narrow gauge railway in the Howe of Alford. When it was running it transported adults and children from the centre of Alford to Haughton Park.
The railway was closed and did not run at all in 2018 due to safety concerns relating to the track and it is believed that work will be required to the track before it can get up and running again. Funding will be required for this. It will also be necessary to establish a constituted community group to take responsibility for the attraction.
Over the last few months a number of local residents have expressed an interest in becoming involved in getting the Alford Valley Railway up and working again.
In order to take this forward a meeting has been arranged for 7 pm on Monday 28th January at Alford Community Campus to ascertain interest from members of the community becoming involved in this project.
If you feel you would like to find out more then come along to the meeting. If you are unable to attend but would still like to be involved please get in touch with the Marr Area Office; firstname.lastname@example.org
