Volunteer to help others improve their Reading, Writing and Numbers Skills.
Helping learners to improve their literacy and numeracy skills is a large part of the work of the Aberdeenshire Council Community Learning & Development team. Volunteer tutors help to support this process by working one-to-one with learners, or by assisting CLD staff with small groups.
Volunteer tutors need to be aged 18 or over, have an empathetic, non-judgemental and flexible approach, as well as good literacy and numeracy skills (ideally educated to Higher level or equivalent). Does this sound like you?
In return for a few hours of regular volunteering, each week or fortnight, you will enjoy this rewarding and interesting opportunity. You will be trained by CLD staff and will be supported throughout your work with learners through regular supervision sessions. You will have access to further training in relation to this important volunteering role, and volunteering hours can be recorded and used to gain volunteering awards and certificates if desired. Volunteering can be a really interesting personal development opportunity for those involved.
Community Learning and Development staff will run training locally, in the coming months. Why not join the existing volunteers, from Alford and the surrounding area, and enjoy this rewarding opportunity!
